basilica In ancient Roman architecture a large oblong type building used as hall of justice and public meeting place. The roman basilica served as a model for early Christian churches.
cardo A north-south-oriented street in ancient Roman city planning. Sometimes called the cardus maximus, it served as the centre of economic life. The street was lined with shops, merchants, and vendors.
decumanus An east-west street that served as a secondary main street in ancient Roman city planning.
forum The roman agora. Public market-place, open square or place of assembly for judicial and other public business in a Roman town or city.
intercolumnar space (or intercolumniation) The space between two adjacent columns.
macellum Meat market.
odeum, the Public building similar to the theatre, but roofed and with smaller dimensions, which was used for musical contests.
stoa, portico, the A long building with a roof supported by one or two colonnades parallel to its back wall.
tholos Circular building with a conical roof.

Το έργο Μεγάλη Δικτυακή «Εγκυκλοπαίδεια Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού» - Μέρος Α΄ συγχρηματοδοτήθηκε σε ποσοστό 80% από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης (ΕΤΠΑ) και κατά 20% από εθνικούς πόρους στο πλαίσιο του Επιχειρησιακού Προγράμματος "Κοινωνία της Πληροφορίας" του Γ΄ ΚΠΣ.
