ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
The forum, the Roman equivalent of the Greek Agora, was the administrative, religious and commercial centre of the city. It gradually became a monumental complex including a central open square. Around the square there were buildings or building groups intended to serve the various functions of the place. In Asia Minor cities the Agora continued being the centre of social life of citizens in the Imperial period. Most of the Hellenistic Agoras of Asia Minor were remodelled into enclosed complexes, were embellished with monumental buildings and acquired a Roman character. |
