ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
Apamea Kibotus was founded by Antiochus I Soter at a strategic location in Phrygia where the important roads from western Asia Minor and the eastern regions met, following the forced relocation of the population of the city of Celaenae. Its location promoted economic growth, mainly through trade. In the Roman era it was one of the largest cities of Phrygia, metropolis of a judiciary province (conventus juridicus). It later became bishopric of Pisidia. |
