Greek enlightenment in Southern Russia was a significant part of the overall enlightenment movement in the Hellenic world of the 18th - early 19th century. Its most important members were the prelates Evgenios Voulgaris and Nikiforos Theotokis, who furthemore were proponents of a much more tolerant attitude vis-a-vis the religious sect of the Old Believers.
